Right. No one’s asking you to do this in a church. We’re simply asking that ALL HOSPITALS be held to the same basic standards because, you know, people’s lives are at stake. Don’t become a doctor if your religious beliefs are going to get in the way of your job.

you know, somehow i don’t think there would be such a debate about this if this was another religion.

Some religions forbid blood transfusions. Some religions forbid organ donations. Some might even forbid any kind of medicines in general because they believe it’s “gods will”.

Should they be allowed to deny a patient these based on their religion? 
Especially if this patient didn’t choose to go to this hospital; it is the only one available to them.

No.
if your religion stops you from doing your job,then don’t do that job. it’s that simple.  
 
When you’re providing care, your first priority is the life of your patient, not the relationship you have with your god/s. that has to learn to come second.  

It’s great that you want to provide care to people. Helping people is good.  Maybe you can open something up that isn’t a hospital, though, if you want to be exempt from providing certain care to patients. Maybe start a charity organization or something instead.  There’s a lot of things you can do to help people that don’t put people’s health at risk. 

But when people are stuck in rural areas with no other hospital or doctors office to go to but your religious one, you have no right to deny them care. Not everyone that shows up at your hospital chooses to go there. Their lives > your god’s opinion of you.

clearly you aren’t Catholic or you would understand that:

-murder is a huge, huge, huge sin that leaves an indelible mark on the soul

-Catholics understand abortion as murder

-the only time abortions are EVER acceptable are in rare medical cases like ectopic pregnancies where the woman WILL die anyway.

-we have to save ALL the lives we can.

Furthermore, to commit a huge sin just because someone DEMANDS you do it? I don’t think so.

You wouldn’t force a Jewish person to eat pork if they kept kosher.

You cannot force Catholic doctors to perform services that are tantamount to murder.

Catholics only understand abortion as murder because they put fetuses on a holy pedestal and put ridiculous standards on women and motherhood where women are expected to always embrace it no matter what and sacrafice everything they can. It’s a huge mash of hypocricy and holding women to a different standard than eveyrone else. It’s discrimination. Here are examples from various catholics I’ve deabted with showing how they don’t ACTUALLY eblieve that life> autonomy unless it’s a fetus and a person with a uterus (In this case I’ll be saying women because that’s usually the target of these sentiments cuz most catholics think trans people are phony.)

On why they aren’t for forced organ donation for born people if they’re for it for pregnant people: “Forced rogan donatsion? BUT ITS NOT THE ORGAN DONORS FAULT THAT THE OTHER PERSON NEEDS AN ORGAN.” (ok so now apparently people’s lives are worthless if it isn’t some one els’es “fault” they are like that.)(oh except if its a rape victim even if it isn’t her fault she’s still a MURRRDERRREERRR if she takes plan b or gets an abortion to dislodge the emrbyo or fetus.)

“BESIDES IT ISNT ~ACTIVE KILLING~ BECAUSE THE PERSON ISNT BEING KILLED THEY JUST SIMPLY DIE”
(Meanwhile simply forbidding an embryo from latching onto your uterus or simply disloding it as it is flused and dies as a result of not being connected to a uterus is MUUURRDEEEEEERRRR. Hence why the way to stop an ectopic pregnnacy in the catholic mind is to get rid fo the entire tube. Passive killing. But it’s ok as long as its just an embryo dieing. Who cares about born people?)

“MAKING ORGAN DONATION MANDAOTRY WOULDNT BE RIGHT BECAUSE PEOPLE SHOULD DO GOOD THINGS FOR THE SAKE OF BEING GOOD NOT BECAUSE ITS REQUIRED” (unless your a woman then you have to do it and who cares that it’s only 9 months of possible torture  and several more months recovery time vs a quick few hour surgery and a few months recovery time!)

On why apparnelty, the  obvious “justifiable homocide in cases of great bodily harm” isn’t applicable: “YOU MADE THE BABY APPEAR THERE SO ITS YOUR FAULT IT EXISTS YOU CAN JUST INVITE SOME ONE IN YOUR HOUSE THEN KILL THEM” (again ignoring ongoing consent and its iomportant and placing your words of “NO YOU CONSENTED BECAUSE X” above that of the PREGNANT PERSON THEMSELF. Placing your word above theirs. And as if the woman FORCED the sperm and the egg to meet. Pretty sure she didn’t. The sperm met with the egg on its own volition, the woman had nothing to do with whether the sperm met the egg or not. THe sperm coulda chosen to just chill in the vag or something. She didn’t force the egg and sperm to meet unless it was like in vitro fertilization. Even then, all this ignores that consent can be retracted. but hey,it’s not like its’ ridiculously fucked up to claim that consent can’t be retracted (at least it’s good news for rapists!) and that you get to decide whether or not another person consents to something even when it’s clear they DON’T because they’re willing to stick wire hangers up themselves and disembowel themselves to simply get it out. Also again this says nothing about rape victims that are still expected to carry against their will. Also implying that the only way to get some one outta your house is to kill them. COmpletely misunderstanding the whole “minimal force necessary” aspect to protecting rights. Cuz you know, the minimal force necessary to not wanting a 5 year old is to kill it! Clearly the same situation as abortion, where there’s no other option! Again, this implies that a woman gives up the most basic right she has-the right o her own body- by taking part in a compeltely legal act like sex and a sperm happens to meet an egg during that act, something she didn’t MAKE happen. Since most people were on birth control when they got abotions, chances are, she actively worked to PREVENT the sperm and egg from meeting. The sperm fertilized the egg itself. She didn’t force the sperm on the egg.)

“-INSERT SOME STUFF ABOUT MOTHERHOOD AND CHILD RELATIONSHIP AND HOW ITS SO FUCKING SPECIAL GUISE TO EXPLAIN WHY ABORITON IS WRONG-” (Once again, placing motherhood on a pedestal that they happily force anyone into not based on the right to life, but because they think mother’s should sacrafice themselves for their children (basically, holding people to different standards). Women are apparently supposed to be able to bond with a zygote and love it immediately because they’re teh WOMENS and MOTHERHOOD! nevermind the fact tat most human bonding happens due to social interaction and learning about personality, none of which anyone can do with a fetus [doesn’t mean people don’t do it in wanted pregnancies, but expecting a person experiencing an unwanted prengnacy to feel a ~STRONG MOTHERLY BOND~ with something that they’ve never met, has no personality, no sentience or anything is assanine. and only expected cuz of the total hard on they have for a motherfigure and holding women to different standards because of this.)

(Okay so let’s apply this to everything. FROM NOW ONE, UNLESS SOME ONE IS EXPLICITYL TRYING TO HURT YOU, YOU CANT KILL THEM IN SELF DEFENSE. So if you’re being raped by your husband who doesn’t think he’s raping you and doesn’t mean harm because you consented before, you can’t kill him. If you’re being attacked by some one who is insane and thinks that if they horribly maim you, you won’t die but instead become a magical bunny or something and therefore does not have any negative intent upon you, just suck it up! If some one is drunk and is trying to severely hurt you but isn’t in the right mind and therefore can’t be held accountable for his actions later, it’s wrong to defend yourself in the only way you can if its killing! If some one’s sleep walking and you KNOW FOR A FACT that if it continues, you will be suffer severe bodily harm, too bad! Apparently we’re going to treat the right to self defense as if it were charging some one in a court of law, and now you can’t defend yourself even if you know for 100% what’s oging to happen if you don’t take action.)

It wouldn’t be murder if women and mothers were conisdiered people who are the ABSOLUTE only ones with a right to their body. Instead of some one whose a incubator for a fetus the moment they have a dick in them. If they gave a shit about life, it’d be across the board. There would be no excuses for voluntary organ donations. I assume you must have seen the countless petitions going around tumblr for people to donate marrow. Apparently, the lives of those who need marrow are worthless simply because it’s “not our fault” and they die “passively”. Countless lives could be saved if this shit wasn’t voluntary. But nope. Too bad, you aren’t a fetus. Too bad this isn’t a thing about “MOTHERHOOD AND ULTIMATE FEMININITY!” Too bad for you. We’re too busy going over women’s voices to say they consent to something they themselves say they don’t consent to and are willing to go to extremes to get rid of, deciding that we suddenly care about the lives of people who aren’t at fault when they’re a product of rape and the donor is a woman, suddenly deciding its no longer passive killing but MURDER when a person takes a pill to dislodge an embryo from their uterus or prevents a zygote from implanting in the first place. 

Simple yes or no question:

Does anyone BUT a person whose the body belongs to have a right to ANY part of their body whatsoever, even if lives are at risk? 

If you answer is no*

*unless its a fetus and you’re a woman then you’re a MURDERER

Then you MIGHT be an asshole that discriminates against an entire group of people and holds them to a different standard!

And your double standards have no place in medicine. I assume that if you honestly, truly, 100% believe that the right to life is greater than autonomy, you believe this without exception just like us pro choicers honestly truly believe that bodily autonomy is more important than some one else’s life. And if your patient needs a transplant, you should be damn willing to find some one, even if unwilling, and get them that transplant the same way you wouldn’t ever think about giving some one birth control because passive killing is still murder and you aren’t gonna treat a human person differently than a zygote just because they aren’t in a uterus and there’s not MOTHERHOOD, SLUTTY SLUT or the like involved in the situation.

If you honestly and truly believe that the right to life is more imporant instead of making these expcetions for people that are born and placing a fetus on the holy pedestal of untouchablity, I will lick your fucking feet. Until I see a catholic do that and not be treating women or anyone they perceive to be a woman differently than they treat men, I won’t be licking any feet today.

Start taking things seriously for all citizens.

Enough of these excuses.
Enough excuses for why organ donation being voluntary is acceptable but pregnancy being voluntary isn’t. Enough of “passive vs active”. 
Enough of the sacred motherhood speech. Stop putting mothers on a pedestal. Benevolent sexism is still sexism. We’re good for more than mothering and we shouldn’t have to be amother if we do not consent to it (oh and i mean WE do not consent, not what some one esles opinion on whether or not we consent is.) We shouldn’t be expected to sacrafice our entire future and virtually our entire lives and health. It’s sexist to expect us to do that just cuz you fetishize motherhood to the point of ridiculousness.
Enough of the different standards.
